UNC Basketball program unveils official 2023

The UNC basketball program released its official roster for the 2023-2024 season, as there are some notable number changes to know about.

Ah, another step closer to the start of the UNC basketball program’s season.

To close out the weekend, the program released its official roster for the 2023-2024 season. Although some players will be wearing the same jersey number, we do have some number changes for some returning players. The Tar Heels also feature a handful of newcomers, so their number choices are now official.

It’s important to note that the NCAA now allows players to wear numbers 6, 7, 8, and 9 for the first time in decades.

Let’s take a look at the numbers that the players on the UNC basketball program’s roster will be wearing this upcoming season.

RJ Davis- No. 4

Armando Bacot- No. 5

Jalen Washington- No. 13

Duwe Farris- No. 34

Seth Trimble

Old Number- No. 0New Number- No. 7 (Last worn by Simon Terrell in 1950)

Rob Landry

Old Number- No. 15New Number- No. 22

*Rob is making the switch to wear the number his father, Pearce, wore as a Tar Heel from 1993-1995.*

Creighton Lebo

Old Number- No. 25New Number- No. 14

*Creighton is making the switch to wear the number his father, Jeff, a current UNC assistant coach, wore as a Tar Heel from 1985-1989.*

Cormac Ryan- No. 3 (Last worn by Dontrez Styles last season)

Paxson Wojcik- No. 8 (Last worn by Dick Patterson in 1950)

Jae’Lyn Withers- No. 24 (Last worn by Tyler Nickel last season)

James Okonkwo- No. 32 (Last worn by Pete Nance last season)

Harrison Ingram- No. 55 (Last worn by Christian Keeling in 2020)

Zayden High- No. 1 (Last worn by Leaky Black last season)

Elliot Cadeau- No. 2 (Last worn by Caleb Love last season)

There will be some different numbers and some new faces on the court for the UNC basketball program this season, but the expectations are still very high for this new-look squad heading into the 2023-2024 season.
