BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — LSU catcher Hayden Travinski was chosen to wear the No. 8 jersey during the 2024 season. The LSU senior is a Shreveport native who graduated in the spring of 2023.

Travinski responded to the honor by saying, “Grateful for the opportunity to continue this tradition! Excited for another great season!! Geaux Tigers.” One of Travinski’s teammates on the 2023 national championship team, Cade Beloso, said, “No one more deserving!!!! Congrats brother.”

Head baseball coach, Jay Johnson, spoke about Travinski during a news conference on Monday, Aug. 21. Johnson said, “With Hayden, it was like, look, you’ve played pretty well, I mean, you could make an argument, that outside of Dylan, the end of the SEC schedule, the SEC Tournament, the regional, the super regional, there was not a more valuable player on our team.”

Gavin Dugas wore the No. 8 jersey during the last two LSU baseball seasons.

Travinski finished the 2023 season with 10 home runs, 30 RBIs and a .356 average.
